I absolutely love adding texture to my scrapbook and card projects! I also have sewn since my early childhood, so adding hand sewn stitches to my paper crafts makes me very happy. I wanted to show you a few ideas to use with felt. Fortunately for me, Close To My Heart has two packages of felt die-cuts that have allowed me to create cute butterflies, flowers, birds, and even owls to name a few.
I used a bird die-cut from the Heart Felt Wonder packet and a flower petal from the Heart Felt Whimsy packet to make this cute bird. First, I cut the petal off with scissors to make a wing for my bird. Next, I did a cute stitch around the wing with Embroidery Floss to give the wing some contrast.
Then, I just used a glue dot to attach the wing and used a tool to pierce a hole where I wanted the eye to go. I used a black bitty brad for the eye, but you could use a jewel or googly eye, too. Whatever makes you happy is best! I also added some sparkles to the bird’s crown!
To make cute butterflies cuter, I used an Eyelet Kit to hammer some holes into the top buttercup colored butterfly from the Heart Felt Whimsy package, so I could layer it on a contrasting colored butterfly that I placed underneath.
Below are a few of the felt items I have handcrafted. I hope this gives you some great ideas to try! I posted some cards earlier in the month that have some other felt creations I cam up with. Get out of your comfort zone and stretch your creativity to see what you can come up with using items from your craft stash!
