Creating coordinating embellishments for your projects is more cost effective and more rewarding than running out to the store to buy them. You can save time by using paper punches to create your own handmade flowers. I am using a Bella Scrapbook Kit to make these paper punched flowers to coordinate with some projects I am going to create. Let me show you how easy this can really be. I am using one 12 X 12 piece of patterned paper, two flower paper punches of different sizes, decorating chalks, sponge daubers, buttons, and embroidery floss.
Once I have picked out coordinating paper, I like to punch out two different sizes of flowers for my embellies. From there, I chalk my flowers, making sure to use the lightest color first, with a sponge dauber. I start in the center of my flower with the lightest color, and work my way to the edges with a darker color. This creates a layered effect which really makes my flowers “pop”!
You can use buttons, or brads to hold the layered flowers together and create the center of the flower. Personally, I love to hand sew buttons unto the flowers. Next post will show how to use Versa Mark Ink to make similar embellies.
